The Issues

Education

Every Minnesotan deserves access to quality education and this starts with early childhood care and preschool. As a parent, I know these costs are overwhelming for a family. As your next State Representative, I know these costs can be curbed and we can provide affordable childcare.

A fully funded education system is a priority. Educators are at the heart of quality learning and child development, which is why I will work to support people in these professions. We should invest in the people that invest in our children. This means providing living wages, health care expansions, smaller class sizes, and access to training. It would also give school districts the means to recruit and retain teachers, support staff, counselors, social workers and nurses.

Our children are our future. Let’s not leave them behind.

Labor

Everyone has the right to feel safe, earn living wages, health care benefits, retirement, and a voice in the workplace. These rights have been under attack since they have been granted, by those who look to only benefit off the backs of hard-working Americans that drive our economy. We have the best trained professionals in all trades across the world. When we have apprenticeship programs that give tradesmen and women access to opportunities to learn while they work, and not acquire unforgiving debt, they are already giving back to the economy in many ways. They can afford to purchase a home to start and or support a family without worrying about if they can afford it or not.  They receive world class training and certifications from professionals with decades of experience in their fields. Our projects and infrastructure are built with the highest safety and quality standards in the world.  There should never be a question about protecting these rights that have been fought for. Our right to organize is just that. A RIGHT. I will not stand for any attack on our rights that allow us to do the things we are passionate about, that benefit everyone.

Healthcare

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. I sympathize with the thousands of Minnesotans suffering every day due to the lack of affordable health care. One of Minnesota’s greatest threats to our economic stability is the crippling costs of health care and medications.
Pharmaceutical companies must be held accountable for creating a system where people must decide if and how they live their quality of life.
I know first-hand of the paralyzing fear of watching insulin prices rise and being left with no power or voice in the matter. As a State Representative, I will be your voice for affordable healthcare and fight for lower prescription drug costs.

environment

Those of us fortunate enough to live in the northern part of Minnesota appreciate the scenic beauty that surrounds us. As a legislator, I would work hard to make sure that any construction actions that take place in the surrounding area would maintain the pristine and beautiful condition that is now for our children and future generations. Protecting our natural environment is something that Minnesotans have done well. We have some of the strongest regulations in the nation for industries to follow and operate under, but still provide opportunities for industrial growth for industries reliant on fossil fuels as well as those that will help us with transitions to “going green.” We also know that in moving to clean energy the task will not happen in a short period of time; the transition is never easy. It will take time for traditional industries to adapt to safer methods. I am committed to working with factions to bring them together for insights and a spirit of cooperation that will maintain our environmental quality while still affording current industries such as mining and logging to thrive. Being a voice for the industry and environmental protection will not be easy, but it will be a necessity so that we are protected from any form of degradation. I look forward to the challenge that I propose here but assure my constituents that this would be one of my primary goals in the Minnesota legislature.
